WOMEN ONLY

Built by women who go it alone. For women who do too.

Monowander exists because 80% of women who want to travel alone are still waiting. Not for permission — for the confidence to go. Every product we make, every guide we write, is built around how women actually move through the world.

  • Verified at sign-up — every community member confirms she's female
  • Judgment-free — ask the questions you'd only ask another woman
  • Real advice — from travellers who've walked the same streets
WHY I BUILT THIS

I built Monowander because I got tired of the sick feeling in my stomach on the walk home.

I grew up in Kraków and moved around a lot in my twenties — new cities, new jobs, a lot of nights walking back to flats I didn't know yet. And there was this feeling I could never shake. Keys threaded through my fingers. Phone already dialled, thumb over the call button. Walking faster than I wanted to, past the group of men outside the bar, doing the maths every woman does without thinking. I wasn't paranoid. I was just a woman getting home. But I hated that it was normal.

When I finally went looking for something to carry, everything on the market was either a plastic gadget that felt like a toy, or an app that needed signal and a full battery and about four steps I'd never manage in an actual emergency. Nothing was made for us — for the late shift, the solo trip, the quiet street that isn't quiet enough. It was all made by people who'd never had to hold their keys like a weapon.

So I made the thing I wanted in my own hand. Loud enough that people look. Simple enough that there's nothing to think about — you pull it, it screams, every head turns. No app, no subscription, no excuses. Then I started writing down everything I'd learned the hard way about travelling and living alone, and those became the guides we send with every order. Monowander is the brand I wish I'd found at twenty-three. If it means one woman walks home with her shoulders down instead of up, it's done its job.

Questions, answered.

  • About as loud as a jet engine at close range. It can be heard from over 600 feet away — far enough to draw attention from the next street. Loud enough that most people instinctively look, and most attackers instinctively leave.
  • No. The alarm works entirely on its own. Pull the pin and it sounds. There's nothing to set up, nothing to pair, and no monthly fee.
  • Push the pin back in and it stops immediately. It takes a deliberate pull to trigger — it won't go off rattling around in your bag.
  • Weeks of standby on a single USB charge. Charge it once a month and forget about it. No batteries to run out at the worst moment.
  • It fits most inward-opening doors with a standard frame, which covers the vast majority of hotels, hostels and short-term rentals. It won't fit outward-opening doors or frames with no gap.
  • Return it within 30 days for a full refund, provided it's unused and in its original packaging. No arguments.
